Your account email and password (stored only as a salted hash). What you tell your coach: food, weight, body-fat %, workouts, supplements, allergies, and your chat messages — including any food photos you attach. This includes health data (special-category data under UK GDPR). We collect it only with your explicit consent, given in the app before onboarding, and only to provide your coaching.
To compute your nutrition targets, keep your daily board, and generate coaching replies. Chat messages and relevant profile context are processed by our third-party AI provider to generate each reply. We do not sell your data, run ads, or use third-party analytics.
A third-party AI provider (generates coaching replies; United States, under safeguarded transfer terms), Fly.io (hosting, London region), Apple/Google (app delivery and push notifications), Apple iCloud Mail (transactional email such as password-reset codes). Each acts under data-processing terms.
SOMIQ looks for language suggesting self-harm or suicidal thoughts. If it finds any, your message is not sent to the AI. You are shown crisis helpline details instead, and nothing from that message is added to your food or training records.
An anonymous notification is also sent to SOMIQ's operator - the time only, never your user ID or anything you wrote - so that a person knows it happened and can check the detection is working. SOMIQ is not an emergency service and nobody is on call. We cannot contact emergency services on your behalf, and we hold no address or phone number for you. If you are in immediate danger, call 999. Samaritans are available free at any hour on 116 123.
Daily history is kept on a 90-day rolling window; your profile and chat persist while your account exists. In Set-up you can export everything as JSON or permanently delete your account — deletion is immediate and unrecoverable. You also have UK GDPR rights of access, rectification and complaint (ICO: ico.org.uk).
